Eminem!
That's the name that first strikes me when i think of Music. His punchy lyrics and solid voice has no parallel. I still remember how i had gotten smitten with his music when i first heard 'lose yourself'- that was 4 yrs ago. Rap was a blabber of silly thugs then, who looked like victims of a fad that will disappear anytime. Blacks, drugs, derogatory 'yo-mama' jokes, fake blings, lose shirts and baseball caps. End.
I used to read about Eminem's beefs and his 'too smart' lyrics. I just wanted to listen one song, out of innocent curiosity!
One day my music-stricken friend gave me a CD of her favorite songs. There i heard the voice of Eminem for the first time ever. OMG! I hadn't heard anything like this ever, in fact it felt like something i wanna do too. The passion, the play of words, and how easily those rhymes make sheer sense out of the strong, smacking beats.Soon i learnt the lyrics and now could sing along with Em with as much ease. I had discovered a new form of music which seemed doable to me!!
I love to sing fast. What you do in rap is pick a story to tell and let the moods and emotions of it overwhelm you. This gives you a first line (it can be shouting someone's name or blurting the F-word)and let the words come. U can go to any extent to make the words to rhyme (even a slight digression from the story is okay)You will be surprised how things get funny and eventually feel like eminem! At times no matter how hard you work you may not find the right word. So just stop and bend it. Blimey, you'll get a wild card to G-Unit. haha. Check this
"Y'all act like u've never seen a white person before^, jaws all on the floor^, like Pam and tommy just burst in the door^, and started whooping *** *** worse+ than before^, they first+ were divorced^, throwing her over the furniture.."

I think this is enough for today, have to catch some chill to beat the heat.
